Runners participating in an 8k race in San Jose, California didn’t realize they’d be getting encouragement from an American hero.
But that’s what Joe Bell is…an American hero. The 95 year old is a World War II veteran and he dressed up in his uniform to cheer on the runners as they passed by his house.
Bell clapped and waved, and then one runner ran over to shake Bell’s hand and say “thank you” in appreciation for the veteran’s service.
Another runner followed. And another. And another.
Soon, the race to benefit the Pat Tillman Foundation became a trail of runners thanking Bell, and the hero shook every runner’s hand with a smile.
